1. What is SQL Rover?+
An SQL Transpiler to rapidly accelerate your cloud migration.
Built Atop the Robust Pylasu AST Library, SQL Rover uses Extensive Semantic Analysis to accurately understand database systems to build complex models, unlike other simple string substitution engines.
2. What can the Rover Do?+
SQL Rover is built to automate and therefore effectively eliminate the cumbersome process transforming your database for the target platform, while maintaining 100% Data, Code & User Privacy.
3. How does the Rover work?+
- The Rover Builds an Abstract Model of your code and database schema, Identifying any complexities and built-in patterns.
- The model is transformed and optimized for the target platform while preserving all information or logic.
- Code replicating original functionality is generated in the new dialect.
4. Is My SQL Dialect supported?+
SQL Rover currently supports transpiling Teradata to Snowflake, Spark SQL & Amazon Redshift, with support for more source and target platforms right around the corner. For migration from/to other platforms, checkout Managed Services.
5. How do I use the service?+
SQL Rover is available as an online service for clients can upload DDL, DML & DQL Files (Teradata), convert them to a target dialect (Apache Spark, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift), and download within minutes.
6. What is going to cost me? +
SQL Rover service is available via a variety of subscription tiers, catering to customers of all types. Checkout our detailed pricing structure here.
7. Is there a Trial?+
We offer a Free Plan where users can try-out the capabilities of the Rover, with certain limitations.
8. Can I buy a perpetual license? +
SQL Rover follows a subscription model which ensures constant support, updates and fixes, to keep pace with the evolution of its supported platforms. We do not currently offer perpetual or onetime licences. You can check out or Pricing structure here.
9. Is there a user-installable version available?+
Installation of SQL Rover on client systems can be made possible on special demand through our Managed Services.
10. Can SQL Rover automatically migrate my entire product stack?+
SQL Rover is currently a Teradata Transpiler service which migrates only your databases to our Supported Platforms.
11. Will I be required to do any coding?+
Our 80:20 Rule ensures minimal coding burden on the client. Once the database files have been ported to the new format, only integration of the database with rest of the client’s product stack, and performance optimizations if any are required.
12. Can you help us with End-to-End Migration? +
End-to-End Migration projects can be taken up and delivered via CTGDatabit’s Managed Services Team, after conducting a detailed evaluation of requirements. Clients can get-in-touch here with us for further discussions.
13. Can I trust you with my code?+
SQL Rover is a fully autonomous system which handles all code handling and transpilation on its own, requiring no human oversight or intervention. Hence all code uploaded on the platform, proprietary or otherwise is safe from human eyes. Strict policies are in place to prevent unauthorized access, storage or dissemination of client code by employees. We do have a bug reporting mechanism in place where clients can voluntarily share specific sections of code, purely for support and debugging purposes.
14. What about data privacy?+
Zero Data Policy is the pillar on which our products are built. There is no requirement whatsoever at any point during the transpilation process for sharing any actual data. SQL Rover is designed to accept and process only DDL, DML and DQL files.
15. Will someone assist in the migration process? +
Support is available for our enterprise subscribers where the team behind SQL Rover can assist you with your migration, integration and code optimization.
